A World of Lies

Lately I have been thinking about how conservatives live in a world of lies. They lie constantly to promote their agenda because their agenda is so extreme that it would not be supported if presented as it truly is. They have taken to believing their own lies. While conservative leaders remain aware of the truth and are able to modulate their lies to fit the circumstances, the average conservative has lost awareness that they are actually lying.

But there is a frailness to their lies. They need to be constantly enveloped in them. They get all their news from talk radio and FOX news. They don't make friends with non-conservatives. They keep their children from school. They only read books that are approved of by other conservatives.

They actively encourage each other to avoid the truth. David Horowitz despite his protestations to the contrary is developing a hit list of professors conservatives don't like. This is a mild nuisance now but if a conservative dictatorship arises these professors can obviously forget about their jobs and will need to seriously worry about their freedoms and lives.

But assuming the republic survives the greatest damage done by his hit list is to conservatives themselves. He puts forth the premise that college age adults can't listen to opposing viewpoints without being magically indoctrinated. I have seen the classes that I am taking at community college. When the professor noted that male homosexuals have significantly different brain structure than heterosexual males several students left.

Here the students were denying themselves access to the truth. You can actually see the differences on MRIs. There is no disputing the evidence. They also missed all the unrelated information that followed these statements. The ironic thing about this situation is that the professor himself acknowledged that this physical difference is a support for the conservative position that homosexuality is a pathology. So the students were walking out on an argument that they actually agreed with because it was not presented in the exact manner that they were used to hearing it.
These conservatives have in effect become lie junkies. If they go too long without their lies they go into a very painful withdrawal. That is why it so hard to rescue a conservative. But it is also the weakness of the average conservative. They have blocked out so much of reality that they are actually preventing themselves from obtaining the tools needed for normal lives.

Summer has started

Summer has started, so I should have more time to dedicate to the revolution. I have also decided to change major to computer science. Hopefully I will learn some stuff that will punch up the web page. You will be seeing a lot more of me.

The problem with fundamentalism is that encourages its practitioners to ignore their own God given conscience in favor of their, often imperfect, interpretation of some scripture and the commentaries surrounding it. This removes an important check on such activities as terrorism and genocide.

There is a common argument circulating amongst religious conservatives that Christianity is much less easily employed in the service of violence than Islam. Here are some examples of atrocities committed by people who used Christianity as at least part of their justification for violence. They fall into three categories.

Firstly are the atrocities of the past. These include the gruesome torture and murder of heretics, the slaughter of Jerusalem's civilian Jewish population upon the cities capture, the genocide of the native American population, slavery including the inherent slaughter accompanying slave capture, the Inquisitions which tortured and murdered Jews, midwifes, "witches", and heretics; the slaughter of knights Templar, various programs against Jews throughout Christendom and the blood libels.

The second class of atrocities by Christian Fundamentalists include those of the present and the recent past. They include the violence in Northern Ireland, the massacre of Muslim civilians by Lebanese Christian militias, the genocide perpetrated by Serbians, and Croatians in the former Yugoslavia, the terrorism of the Klu Klux Klan and other American fundamentalist Christian race based terrorist organizations, and yes the antiabortion terrorists.

The third class of violence by Christian fundamentalism is the use of genocidal language to portray its opponents. More and more fundamentalist Christians are referring to groups as diverse as homosexuals, members of teachers unions, democrats, main stream protestants, and secular Jews as being "evil," "Traitorous," and worthy of death.

These are serious statements. I as a liberal take them at face value. If someone calls me a traitor and should be hung, I understand it to mean that they want to kill me. The problem is not just that some nut job may take these statements seriously. The problem is that after a traumatic event such as the nuclear destruction of one of our cities presumably by Muslim terrorist that some leader will rise to power by venting the countries blood lust against these maligned groups.

The problem is that we are good to go. The military has already been running huge prisons in Iraq. These skills are easily transferable to concentration camps here, a large percentage of American soldiers believe in torture, and we have already developed the system of farcical show trails that could easily be used for such things as blood libel trails.

Townhall.com::Duke Lacrosse Scandal: Eight Lessons::By Dennis Prager

I used to have fun reading Dennis Prager's articles. Mainly because of his laughable ignorance of Christianity and Christian theology. But, it always made me remember to be humble when talking about someone else's religion. It is really hard to get it right if you haven't grown up in it. But this last article really showed him to be a despicable lout. It is truly amazing how on one hand he can say that black racism is more pervasive than white racism but act as if this is the first political prosecution of innocent defendants in a rape trail. He on one hand talks about how we must remember that defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law than not only decides the guilt of the accuser but names and shames her.

There is no way you can tell me he would be defending a group of black players who had been accused of raping a pretty white girl in this manner. And he certainly wouldn't be attacking the accuser in this manner. While there are indications that her story was false. There is no proof that she was not attacked in some way by someone at the party. On top of this the reports I have read have been that she is emotionally disturbed. It is hard to know what an emotionally disturbed individual in what Prager would be the first to acknowledge is a sexually exploitive position might or might not genuinely believe in such a situation.

I have seen people have vivid hallucinations that they believed were real and they often were of a sexual nature.

Perhaps this lady was just a con-woman who was after money or was acting out of spite. Certainly this has happened before. But it is so frustrating that conservatives are so willing to condemn her without a trail and are totally blind to the irony of their vigorous defense of the men involved.

Anyway, Dennis Prager you are officially not funny anymore. I hope for you your sake you are not judged by the standards you judge others,

Widgets

Love the widgets. I mean I really love them. I love Yahoo widgets. I love Opera widgets. I love Google gadgets. I like Spring Box widgets. I like Blog widgets. I like clock widgets. I like useless widgets. But there is one kind of widget I don't like. It is those countdown to product launch widgets. Maybe just maybe there might be one product launch that seems momentous at the time. But I could fill my screen with the the blasted things. So unless product launch is for something as revolutionary as the original Mac, I don't want to see it in a widget!

Cheap prefab spacious housing being brought to the UK - by IKEA

I often times think that IKEA says a lot about what is wrong with the American economy. I mean IKEA was founded in Sweden and is registered as a Dutch company. These are both countries with lots of socialist goodies, and yet almost all of the stuff in the stores is made in a European country. I am not sure that I have ever seen new American made furniture in a store. There is definitely something fishy about the claims that you can't build things in a country that does right by the workers.

I love IKEA. Virtually everything I own is from IKEA. And, it was all brought home by either my wife or my wife and I or I on the trolley. I wouldn't mind an IKEA house. The only problem is I prefer multi-family dwellings. I wonder if they make a fourplex.

Added favicon

Unfortunately I have duties not directly related to the revolution and things are moving slowly. I have added a favicon to the sight. It is the same pic from my profile only smaller. I am not sure that I like it. Maybe there will be a replacement soon.
